Drink up, mate

I am a creature of habit, and every night when I wind down after dinner and do my best to muster up whatever energy I have remaining to tidy up the mess of the day, I drink a flavoured sparkling water. It’s my tiny little treat that keeps me going through the clean. As is with most habits, I’ve come to crave my nightly bubbly water and our bar fridge was usually stocked with an array of flavours.  Since I was such a frequent consumer, I figured it would be a wise choice for both my spending habits and the environment, to invest in an at-home drink carbonating machine. I shopped around, compared the different models, and decided on Drinkmate.

One of the best parts about Drinkmate is that you can shop their product directly from my blog and if you do you’ll receive an exclusive 10% discount and FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50.

Drinkmate got my vote because it allows you to carbonate any drink, not just water like some of the competitor brands. You can carbonate anything including juice, iced tea, wine, flat soda, cocktails, and beer! On top of that, the design is sleek, simple, and lightweight. I was actually surprised to learn that no electricity or batteries are needed, as I assumed it would require a power outlet.

Since we got our Drinkmate, we have used it almost daily and it has helped me cutback on the number of cans I am buying and bringing into our house. Another perk of Drinkmate is that it’s pushed me to experiment with flavours and try new concoctions.  I also ordered the Drinkmate Italian syrups and used the grapefruit syrup, to create a Paloma, which is one of my favourite cocktails.

To make:

-carbonate 800 mL cold water + 30mL (1oz) pink grapefruit syrup in the Drinkmate

-rim highball glass with salt and fill with ice

-add 1oz of premium tequila

-add 90 mL Drinkmate carbonated grapefruit soda

-add squeeze of lime

-garnish with a lime wedge

-enjoy!

I’ve linked our new favourite kitchen gadget, our Drinkmate here if you would like to shop it.

Cheers!
